Invictus GDA
If you want to build muscle, you need to eat a lot. A caloric surplus is necessary for long-term muscle building. It's simple physics. However, excess calories in the cells can also cause our muscle cells to become less sensitive to insulin. Because insulin is needed to deliver nutrients to cells, this means that the carbohydrates and amino acids we eat are less efficient at getting them to where they are needed.
However, some pharmacologic measures to promote muscle building also ensure that more energy enters the bloodstream and can therefore decrease insulin sensitivity. Invictus GDA was developed with the intention of increasing the sensitivity of cells to insulin and thereby redirecting the distribution of nutrients back to the muscle cells. The abbreviation GDA stands for "Glucose Disposal Agent", in German: an agent for depositing glucose, ie blood sugar.
What exactly is in it?
Berberine HCL - 250 mg
Meta-analyses and research reviews have concluded that the available research shows that berberine is very effective in increasing the sensitivity of cells to insulin, even to a similar extent as drugs developed for this purpose, such as metformin.
According to research, both berberine and metformin activate the second messenger AMPK, which signals cells to lack energy. Glucose transporters are then increasingly transported to the cell surface, which then transport glucose from the blood into the cells.
However, unlike metformin, berberine has a significantly faster and shorter duration of action than commonly prescribed type 2 diabetes drugs.
Prickly pear extract - 150 mg
In areas of Mexico and South America, cacti are not only part of the landscape, but are also traditionally used as medicinal plants. The fruit and leaves of Opuntia ficus indica, a variety of the prickly pear cactus, have long been used to treat diabetes and high cholesterol.
A recent review of 20 studies shows that the body of data collected suggests that prickly pear extracts increase the release of insulin in the body and thereby promote the storage of glucose in the cells.
One of these studies was also conducted in young, healthy, physically active men and showed a 26% improvement in insulin sensitivity even after exercise.
Cinnulin PF® cinnamon extract - 150 mg
Even among the population, cinnamon is considered not only a delicious spice, but also a medicinal plant. The problem, however, is that especially cheap and tasty cassia cinnamon contains higher amounts of coumarin, which has caused liver and kidney damage in high doses in animal experiments.
Meta-analyses show that cinnamon and cinnamon extracts can help lower fasting blood sugar levels in people with reduced insulin sensitivity.
Cinnulin PF® is a special extract specially standardized for trimeric and tetrameric procyanidins, which are responsible for the positive properties of cinnamon. According to the manufacturer, this is a 20:1 extract, which means that the 150mg amount used in Invictus GDA is equivalent to at least 3g of cinnamon powder.
NA-R-alpha lipoic acid - 100 mg
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a component that occurs in the metabolism of mitochondria, which are responsible for energy production. Therefore, it is a natural substance synthesized by the human body itself.
Numerous studies have shown positive effects of supplemental intake of alpha-lipoic acid on insulin levels and cellular insulin sensitivity. Common alpha lipoic acid in dietary supplements is usually a mixture of S and R isomers. On its own, the R form has shown better absorption rates in studies. Related to sodium (Na), it still has a higher solubility in water, so we chose the high quality form NA-R-ALA.
Gymnema Sylvestre extract - 100 mg
Gymnema Sylvestre is a plant native to southern India and tropical Africa. Irons have been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for centuries for a variety of purported properties, including their anti-diabetic and anti-obesity effects.
In fact, research shows that taking the extract can increase insulin sensitivity as well as insulin production and secretion in the pancreas. At the same time, the extract was observed to have a protective effect on pancreatic beta cells against the bull.
